Recycled Pants Into Hip Hop Pants

Okay, these was taken long time ago. Finally had the time to upload it!!!!

(ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧

This tutorial is for poor dancers who are broke or penniless. At that time when I was making my own hip hop pants, I had no camera or a proper phone. All I had was an almost dying phone passed down from my second sister. The only thing that was working was the camera function. So forgive me for the low quality photos.

Things that you might need.
Any type of pants, I prefer baggy types of pants.
Ribbons or elastic, depending on how you want to tighten the hem area.
Bobby pins or safety pins.
A needle.
Thread, same color as the pants.

My pants was from Song&Song. Ya, it was freaking cheap. I have no idea what's the price now. I didn't want to spend money to buy a proper hip hop pants. So I decided to change this cheap baggy pants which I think isn't for hip hop because the hem area is not elastic, I stepped on it multiple times (freaking irritating) and it sweeps the floor.
I didn't thought of taking photos when I started doing my work. So what happened before the above photo was that I used a seam ripper and a tiny sharp scissors to carefully cut the thread at the side seam around the hem area. (You can use a thread clipper if you have one.) Carefully remove the stitches and open the seam without breaking the thread because you will need to tie a knot to prevent the rest of the side seam from unthreading itself.

After tying a knot, sew up the sides of the unthreaded side seam at the hem area to prevent fraying.

Threading through the cuff casing.
You can use either ribbon or elastic. I tied a piece of ribbon to a bobby pin and thread it through the cuff casing. The ribbon must be way longer than the length of your ankle, just in case it's not enough to tie a temporary knot. (Please burn the ends of the ribbons to prevent fraying)
OR
If you are using elastic, make sure the elastic is just slightly tighter than the length of your ankle. You do not want it to be too tight or too loose.
Pin 2 safety pins. One on each side of the elastic. Attach one side of the elastic to the end of the casing. Thread it through the cuff casing to the other side of the opening and attach it to the other end of the casing too. The fabric will bunched up, that's supposed to happened.

Tying or sewing.
Threading the ribbon through the cuff casing as shown above.
OR
If you used elastic, sew the ends of the elastic together carefully with the safety pins on. Do not undo the safety pin before sewing for it will shrink back inside the cuff casing.

Lastly...
Tie a temporary knot after you have put your ankle through it (unless your ribbon is elastic). I tied it immediately because I was going to wash it in a washing machine and i do not want to ribbons to come out.

For those who used elastic, There is nothing more to do other than trying it out or putting it to wash.

TA~DA~
So cute~ My new hip hop pants! No more sweeping the floors or stepping on it!

Okay, the reason why i chose to use ribbons is because personally i think that the elastic will lose it's elasticity after multiple times of washing and wearing. (I am lazy to replace the elastic.) But it's convenient as you do not need to tie and untie the ribbons.

If I have the time, I will replace the photos with clearer ones but not now.

Okayyy~ Have fun~
